2006-08-06 - 8:48 p.m. I'm trying hard not to be all depressed this weekend, but it's not working too well. Yesterday was fine, today not so much. I went and saw the exhibit of Japanese kimono at the museum. It was pretty amazing. Then I wandered around Government House for a bit and looked at the art mostly. The house itself is a weird mixture of bad furniture from different decades. My internet is acting up so that makes me feel even more cut off. I've been wishing for a digital camera for a while - though even if I would just carry my camera with me it would be better. On my walk to work, down on a wooded river path, there was a strange sign that I wanted to take a picture of every day so I could post it. It was a big yellow triangular sign that said: Caution: Service Animals in Training. That wasn't even the really strange part - the picture was of the silhouette of a car and inside the car was a funny 1950s cartoon-style man in a hat with a rabbit and a bear crowded together beside him on the front seat. Every morning I wondered: What sort of service animals are they training and for what? I never saw any evidence that bunnies and bears were tooling golf carts along the trail, but I lived in hope. Then they took the sign down. I was very sad. Today I was driving behind a truck with a huge stone Easter Island style head in the back of it - and the stone head was wearing headphones. Again, I deeply regretted not having my camera. Maybe if I had a digital camera I'd be more inclined to carry it. Messenger has booted me off and re-connected me a half-dozen times while I was writing this. If you're reading this, you're lucky because I'm anticipating having trouble posting.
