I finally did it!

I bought a dvd player.

And, you know, it was just as much work as I anticipated it would be. Maybe more.

But having finally found an adapter (for my old tv), the right cables and the player I wanted I brought it home and hooked it up without any problems at all. Take that, men of the world! I don't need you to help me set up a dvd player. (But thanks to Judah who told me that I needed a connector and what kind.)

I was so positive that I would buy a player this weekend that I had the forethought to get a movie out of the library that I wanted to see. In fact it was the movie I wanted to see when the library went to an all dvd purchasing plan and put an end to my movie watching - Rabbit-Proof Fence. I'll go watch it soon.

I've had an extraordinarily productive weekend so far - both work-wise and play-wise. Yesterday, I cleaned my house all morning and went out with a friend all afternoon.

Today, I got up early and walked downtown by my regular route and then home along the other side of the river - taking pictures the whole way. I've wanted to do that for some time because my walk is so pretty. (Tomorrow, I'm going to get up early and go take pictures of the fountains and the Legislature in the morning light.) I have this theory (misguided, maybe) that if I take more pictures and get them developed more expeditiously so I have more immediate feedback as to what worked and what didn't, that I'll become a better photographer.

Then I sorted pictures and thought about what sort of photo albums I want to make. I've come to the conclusion that my organization gets in the way. I should just throw all the negatives in one box and all the pictures in another and see what shakes out. Wanting to keep them organized just prevents me from ever doing anything creative with them.

But did I throw all the pictures and negatives in different boxes? Hell, no.
