2007-01-28 - 8:10 p.m. I just made an amazing shepherd's pie - my family should have been here to eat it with me. They would've appreciated it. Well, Maredeath wouldn't have. I bought a steering wheel lock and tomorrow I am going to park in the parking lot my van was stolen from. I will probably worry about it all day, but I need to do it. I miss my walk through the river valley and it is starting to be light enough in the mornings and evenings again for it to be enjoyable. Even though it's still technically January, the February blue skies and soft breezes were here today. I don't quite know how it is but February skies look very different than January skies. It might be the slant of the sun (less harsh) or the clouds (high, thin and veil-like rather than thick and stormy). Whatever it is it gives me some hope that spring will come and I will feel better. Though I don't think it's just the dark that's got me down this year - I don't remember being so tired and draggy any previous year. I couldn't get a doctor's appointment until the 7th though. Another weekend has gone by in which I didn't do nearly enough of anything. (Well, I might have done nearly enough napping.) Why is there never enough time for all the reading and writing and drawing and socializing and movie watching I want to do? (One reason: I'm sleeping somewhere between 3 and 5 hours longer each weekend day.) I did really get into my Polish studying last night though and worked at it for about 3 hours. I found an excellent Polish grammar site on the internet with 1000 questions about grammar. I managed to work my way through 20 of them. So between the class and internet textbook it has, this grammar site, and the book/cd package I bought I'm approaching this from 3 different angles. I've always wanted to learn another language - but I had no idea I'd end up learning Polish. (If, indeed, I do learn more than hi/bye/do you speak English?)
