2007-04-18 - 9:38 p.m. One of my co-workers - younger than me by about 5 years, I must point out - has a passionate attachment to seventies music. A few months ago he moved into an office very close to me so now I listen to bad seventies music all day, every day. The soundtrack of my work life is "Pop Go The Seventies". I've heard more ABBA in the last month than in the previous two and a half decades combined. The thing that is starting to really get on my nerves though (oh, you thought bad seventies music all day was enough?) is that so many of these songs stick in my brain so then I get them on repeat all the time I'm not at work. it's gonna take a lotta love to change the way things are Who wouldn't want that stuck in their brains? It's classic - gonna and lotta in the same sentence. It's not that some of the songs aren't good, it's just the repertoire is so limited. The same songs repeat day after day after day for at least a week - as if all those artists only produced one song. It's really kind of sad. Can you imagine not liking any music past 1981?
